Case Study: Website helps to better connect communities

How to stand out

In a world overwhelmed with information where is wisdom? Global Learning Village(GLV) founder Frank McGuire posed the question and partnered with Exa to create an online solution. With attitude, education and opportunity at the forefront of the GLV, the established website showcases the initiative to deliver smarter, healthier, better connected communities.

GLV- Mentoring, Education and Recreation
GLV is an initiative for international leadership in economic and social development. Nominated for the Metropolis Awards for 2011, the GLV is internationally bound; the idea presented to over 130 cities worldwide.

The GLV is designed to provide the social infrastructure necessary for 21st Century communities and can be established in school, libraries, childcare centres, sporting facilities or other community hubs. Proven ideas for lifelong learning and innovation will be reported via the web using the latest technology; paving the way for an international exchange of ideas and global interaction.

Bridging the Divide
The Internet is a central and vital communication tool for the GLV model, which is why the organisation decided to promote the message online. With an aim to bridge the gap between people who are informed and those that feel disconnected, the GLV website focuses on dynamic user experience, effective information architecture and accessibility.

Each centre is set to be a one-stop hub for mentoring, education and recreation with the aim of providing new opportunities for learning and employment via online access.

Co-ordinating Partnerships

With a team of public-private community partnerships, international partners, supporters in various industries and Exa on board for web design and development; the informative website was created. Promoting the philosophy of ‘attitude, education and opportunity, individuals, organisations’ and communities are encouraged to recognise and support the community driven model online.

The site allows supporters to express ideas and contribute to the project via the user-friendly online contact form. GLV’s ground-breaking initiative is reflected in the seamless design and intriguing visual elements of the site.

The GLV is a rare initiative as it aims to provide educational and life-long opportunities to those that feel disconnected. Although there are centres for education in Melbourne, the GLV strives to globally connect communities in a way that no other has before.
